Top 5 High Street lip balms to heal chapped lips

1. Blistex MEDPLUS

This little blue tub is small but mighty and goes a long way. Blistex is a popular brand for lip care and cold sore treatments. The MEDPLUS product is fantastic for those who are suffering with dry and chapped lips. Most of the Blistex products are very effective but this one is the cream of the crop. 5/5

2. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm

Palmers have a wide range of products from lip care to foot care and even a baby range. their lip care range is coconut oil and cocoa oil these are both very hydrating for the lips and help keep lips soft. The lip balm is silky feeling while applying but did seem to become slightly tacky when it had been on for a while. However, this lip balm has the bonus of having SPF 15. 4/5

3. O’Keeffe lip repair unscented stick

O’Keeffes Working Hands is a god send for many people who struggle with dry or cracked hands however the lip repair stick did not live up to the hype of their other products. When applied it separates and for any kind of benefit you need to keep reapplying regularly. The stick also seemed to dip in the centre when applying. If needs must then this will however if any other options are available would choose them instead. 2/5

4. Chapstick

Chapstick is probably one of the most famous and notable lip balms however they do not really seem to do much. There are no healing properties within the lip balm. When applied it is just there and does not help to hydrate your lips. Constant reapplication is essential to reap any benefits at all. Would not recommend. 0/5

5. Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Lip Balm

Burt’s Bees is another popular brand and its not hard to see why once you have used it. It has more of a wax texture than a balm but perhaps because of this it lasts a lot longer and you do not have to reapply as much. It does contain peppermint oil which makes your lips tingle slightly which may be uncomfortable for some people, but it definitely does the job of healing dry lips. 4/5
